課程概述

The course is designed for students to have the basic skills
in designing database and managing information system for construction industry. 

課程目標
Suggested Topics:
1.Database systems for A/E/C aspects (i.e., estimating, material management, scheduling, construction methods, operation processing, facility management, equipment, finance, personnel, office automation, …etc.);
2.Object-Oriented Database System;
3.CALS (Continuous Acquisition and Life-Cycle Support);
4.Multi-Media Database;
5.Knowledge-based Database System;
6.Internet application of Database systems; and
7.Management Information System Strategy for Managing the Digital Firm.
 
課程要求
Team Project: Each student can freely choose two or three classmates to be his/her team partners. Every team should select a research topic for its team project. Following this project, students will e-mail or submit his weekly report to describe his/her research progress. The important dates for team projects are listed in the table of course outline.
Grading Policy:
1. Two homework and class participation: 20%
2. Mid-Term presentation: 30%
3. Final Report: 50% (40%: written report, 10%: oral presentation)
